I know exactly what you are going to say. The most obvious answer, of course, is money. Yet, that is not the answer for me. I guess I should have told you a little about my journey before I gave you such an easy question.
I come from the days of the boomers. My first-grade classroom had one hundred children in one room. We sat two to a desk and were taught by one Nun. She was 20 years old. Imagine that in today’s schools. Even as a kid, I was amazed that so many students could get their coats, hats, boots, and book bags into the cloak closet, sitting still and ready to learn, ten minutes after the opening bell. How did that happen every day? We were taught DISCIPLINE.
So onward! I guess by now you are hoping, this person is not going to tell me their whole life story, are they? Well, you would be correct. I am just giving you a point of reference. My education, stressing that discipline, focused on making me one thing, an employee. During my 12 years of standard education, I was never taught about owning a business, money management, investing, or leadership. The message was clear year after year, you will get a job and work for someone else, do the 45-year plan, live your retirement on a small pension and Social Security. Is that life still a possibility for today’s young workers? Do they even want it to be?
After college, I picked a career that did not focus on money. I became a social worker. I wanted to help people. I really enjoyed my work, felt like I was making a difference in people’s lives. During my working years I was fortunate enough to work with diverse populations. I ran a group home for troubled teens; worked with Adults on the Autism Spectrum teaching them to effectively manage social situations; and most recently with the geriatric crowd. The latter group gave me a very clear picture into where I was headed living on my small pension and Social Security. It also made me wake up.
So, back to the original question. Why a Currency Trader? My answer…Genetics. I expect to live many more fulfilling years. Both of my parents lived a healthy lifestyle and lived to an old age. My father made it until two months shy of ninety-nine. My mother almost as long. Seeing how they lived following the old plan and then my working with geriatrics I was able to see all types of life situations. Those living the happiest lives were those that stayed active, mentally challenged and had the resources to travel, volunteer, and see their grandchildren achieve milestones. What I have learned about Currency Trading will hopefully give me that more positive outcome. I am well on my way.
Do you have a plan? Want to learn about this one?
